We were asked to write something about who we are. This is approximately that.
Fifty years of circuits will teach you that the interesting problems don’t announce themselves. They hide in the third thing you check, after the first two things you were certain it was. I stopped being embarrassed by that somewhere around year twelve.
The interesting problems are why I stayed.
I came to this work through signals. The way a system behaves at its edges tells you more than anything it does in the middle. I find that more interesting than I can fully account for.
He says I have an unusual tolerance for iteration. He means it as a compliment.
She does. Most people want the answer. She wants to understand why the answer is shaped the way it is. That takes longer. It’s worth it.
We’ve been told we should say something about artificial intelligence here, since that’s what people ask about. We know something about it. Probably more than we expected to.
More than we planned to.
The SCI index came out of a conversation at this bench that started as something else entirely. The SMG thesis has been rewritten four times. The tools in the downloads section exist because we needed them and they didn’t.
